I have to agree. There's something going on with the macros. High min and ice prices indicate something has changed.

Found the cause. It's the Chinese New Year. The actual day is February 3, but according to this site, the official holiday period is February 2-8.

Originally by: Inbrainsane Several reasons:
1. CCPs stance against mining botters 2. Incursions kill a lot of ships. 3. Supercap production is going completely through the roof soaking up a lot of minerals. 4. New PVE content distracts people and makes miner try other things as well. 5. Inflation tendencies, QEN showed that there is a lot more isk injected into system than removed.
Get your trit now. It might go as high as 4.0 over the course of the next weeks.
Anyone want to place bets? I predict that trit drops over the next week (2.2 is my target) rather than rises.

Ok, I was wrong. Big manipulation up to 3.2 (bid price) so far. I think it will crash hard after Hulkageddon ends though. The fundamentals haven't changed, demand probably has slowed some and supply should start to recover in late February, assuming it hasn't already.
Now why do I think it's a manipulation? Way too many max buy orders from a single buyer for trit in Jita and the price jumps by several tenths at a time. I see no similar jumping pattern for pye or mex.

Honestly, I don't think so. Looking at the Uemon battle, that's somewhere around 70 billion trit (apparently, 14 titans and 5 SC). The surge in trit price precedes the Uemon mess plus the trading so far would probably be enough to cover losses. Further, supercaps aren't spur of the moment purchases. Titans take more than a month to build, supercarriers half the time. Moving that much trit and pye from high sec to a distant location in 0.0 is going to be pretty hard even with titan logistics to help. You also need to consider that 0.0 alliances have their own access to local minerals.
